30,000 baby caretta carettas reached the blue waters

At İztuzu Beach in Ortaca, Muğla, about 30,000 hatchlings emerged from 770 nesting sites of the endangered caretta carettas this season and reached the sea.

Located near İztuzu Beach, one of Europe's best caretta caretta conservation and nesting areas, DEKAMER has been carrying out protection work since 2008 while also treating injured sea turtles found across Türkiye.

In the Special Environmental Protection Area (SEPA) covering İztuzu, Sarıgerme, and Dalaman beaches, DEKAMER staff and volunteers work day and night, walking about 15 kilometers each night to support conservation efforts.
