North Korea says its 'will' to keep nuclear weapons through 'all ages' irreversible

North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui said Thursday that will to keep nuclear weapons through "all ages" is "irreversible" as she denounced recent trilateral talks between the US, South Korea and Japan, state media reported.

The top diplomats of the three countries met in New York on Monday to reiterate their commitment to the "complete" denuclearization of North Korea and called on Pyongyang to return to dialogue.

"As the foreign minister of the DPRK, I reaffirm and reconfirm in the strongest tone of voice the steadfast will of our state to keep nuclear weapons through all ages, which is irreversible in any case and will remain unchanged forever," the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) cited Choe as saying.

DPRK stands for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, North Korea's official name.

"There is no change in the fact that the DPRK's position as a nuclear weapons state will be everlasting," she added.

- Multiple-launch rocket test

Pyongyang said Thursday it test-fired multiple-launch rockets earlier this week to prove their hit accuracy and "superiority."

The test of the 240-millimeter-caliber rockets, conducted on Tuesday, was part of the country's five-year plan for modernizing artillery and missile forces, KCNA reported.

Pak Jong-chon, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the ruling Workers' Party, who was among "leading" military cadres overseeing the test, stressed the need to "concentrate the deadliest and destructive attack forces on the southern border."

The rockets equipped with the "autonomous pinpoint guide system" are capable of striking a target 100 kilometers (62 miles) away in a trajectory flight mode and 115 km away in a combined glide mode.
