Dozens of violent attacks, including bombing and arson rocked Thailand's insurgency-hit southern provinces, local media reported on Sunday.
A total of 51 violent incidents were carried out across the three southernmost border provinces on Saturday night, almost half of them occurring in Narathiwat, Bangkok Post reported.
At least two people were injured in the attacks in Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala provinces, which the country's military said were aimed at creating unrest.
There were 22 attacks in Narathiwat alone, followed by 18 in Yala and 11 in Pattani.
They included bombings, public shootings, state vehicle theft and the torching of buildings, power poles and a backhoe. Spikes were also scattered on main roads.
Meanwhile, militant incursions into Malaysia's northeastern Kelantan state, which borders Thailand, were not reported.
Border security has been heightened, with personnel on high alert to prevent any infiltration attempts, while the main concern remains the entry of undocumented migrants, the state-run Bernama news agency reported.
Cooperation between Malaysian and Thai authorities is being facilitated through the Regional Border Committee, which is set to meet soon to discuss further security measures.
Malaysia advised its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Thailand until the situation stabilizes, given the recent unrest in neighboring regions.
