Death toll rises to 16 in Ukraine's Kryvyi Rih after Russian strike

The death toll from a Russian drone strike on a shopping centre in Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's home city of Kryvyi Rih has risen to at least 16, Ukrainian civil defence authorities said on Saturday, as Kiev targeted Moscow with drones.

Civil defence officials in Kryvyi Rih said nine people were still missing following Friday's attack, including two children. Several people with serious injuries were still being treated in hospital, with a total of 130 injuries reported.

Russia also struck the Ukrainian capital Kiev again overnight, killing at least one person and injuring others, authorities said. A warehouse caught fire in the attack, which came as German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul travelled to the city for a solidarity visit.

According to Ukrainian media reports, the Ukrainian military struck a large oil refinery in Russia's Samara region, and for the first time also targeted a warehouse belonging to Russian online retailer Ozon.

The company confirmed an attack on its logistics centre in the Samara region, saying the warehouse caught fire and that 500 employees had been brought to safety, though there were also injuries. Ozon said an emergency hotline had been set up for employees and their families.

Ukraine has carried out repeated drone strikes over several weeks on Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer.

Moscow also reported new Ukrainian drone attacks on Saturday morning. Authorities said flight alerts had temporarily halted take-offs and landings at the Russian capital's airports.

Ukraine has been defending itself against Russia's invasion for four and a half years.
