Ukraine says port infrastructure in Odesa region damaged in overnight Russian drone attack

Ukraine said Wednesday that port infrastructure in the country's southern Odesa region was damaged in overnight Russian drone strikes.

Ukraine's Communities and Territories Development Ministry said in a statement on Telegram that port infrastructure facilities belonging to one of the enterprises in the Danube River city of Izmail were damaged in the attack.

"Fires broke out in the warehouses. All the fire sources were quickly extinguished by rescuers," the statement said.

The ministry said there were no deaths or injuries based on preliminary information and that emergency services were working at the scene.

Ukraine's Air Force said on Telegram that air defenses shot down 146 out of 176 drones launched by Russia overnight.

Russia's Defense Ministry said in a later statement that it "destroyed" Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities and port infrastructure used by the Ukrainian military, among other targets, over the past day.

It also claimed earlier that Russian air defenses shot down 73 Ukrainian drones overnight. It said the drones were intercepted over three regions of the country, the Sea of Azov, the Black Sea and Crimea, which Moscow annexed in 2014.
