US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer slammed President Donald Trump's address Wednesday about the ongoing "Operation Epic Fury" against Iran.
"Has there ever been a more rambling, disjointed, and pathetic presidential war speech?" Schumer said on US social media company X's platform.
His remarks came after Trump told the nation that "core strategic objectives" in the Iran war were nearing completion.
Schumer described Trump's actions in Iran as "one of the greatest policy blunders in the history of our country," accusing the president of failing to clearly define US objectives and ignoring the problems of everyday Americans.
"He is completely unfit to be Commander-in-Chief and the whole world knows it," he added.
Regional tensions have escalated since Feb. 28, when the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran that has killed more than 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
A total of 13 US service members have been killed and about 303 others have been injured since the operation began.
