France's nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle has arrived at Souda Bay in Crete, Greece, for a scheduled refueling stop, local media reported.

The vessel docked Thursday morning at pier K-14 in Marathi, near the city of Chania, and is expected to remain until April 7 before departing for operations in the eastern Mediterranean.

Souda Base, located on the northwest coast of Crete near Chania, is a major naval and military facility.

The Charles de Gaulle has served as the flagship of the French Navy since 2001 and is France's only nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

In March, the US aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford also visited Souda Naval Base for resupply operations.
