The Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday that a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) took place in Moscow.
The meeting was chaired by Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, who emphasized in his address that the security of CIS countries can only now be ensured through joint efforts and coordinated actions of friendly nations' defense ministries, his ministry said in a statement.
"Our work is taking place against the backdrop of a tense geopolitical situation and the intensification of interstate contradictions. It is evident that under current conditions, security can only be ensured through joint efforts and coordinated actions of the defense ministries of friendly countries," he said.
The ministry also said the CIS defense ministers discussed the Concept of Military Cooperation until 2030, as well as the development of joint military-purpose systems.
Defense ministers of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan attended the meeting.
