Russia on Wednesday rejected a Ukrainian proposal for an Easter truce as "yet another PR stunt" by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters that Zelenskiy's aim was "to replenish losses, regroup and prepare the Ukrainian armed forces for continued combat".

Zelensky said on Tuesday he would ask U.S. mediators to convey to Russia Kyiv's offer of an Easter ceasefire for strikes on energy infrastructure, after the Kremlin said it lacked any detailed proposals.

"If they attack us, we ‌will ‌respond. If they agree ‌to stop the attacks on our energy infrastructure, we will reciprocate," he said.
