Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered higher military pay for Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine.
Putin justified the decision by saying that the salaries of military personnel stationed abroad are tied to the development of the foreign exchange market and that the dollar is currently weakening against the rouble, according to the Interfax news agency.
It was initially unclear exactly how much more the soldiers would receive.
