Erdoğan strongly condemns racist slur by official in PSG-Başakşehir game, calls on UEFA to act

Via a written statement shared on the official Twitter page early Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan strongly denounced the racist slur used by one of the match officials against assistant coach Pierre Webo that led to the suspension of the Champions League clash staged between Paris Saint-Germain and Medipol Başakşehir.

"Turkey always takes an unconditional stance against all forms of racism and discrimination in the sports areas and also all fields of social life," Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stressed in his comments shared via social media post on Wednesday as condemning the racist slur used by the Romanian official against assistant coach Pierre Webo in the UEFA Champions League clash between Paris St Germain and Medipol Başakşehir teams.

"I strongly condemn the racist slur used against Pierre Webo, a member of the Başakşehir coaching staff, and I believe that UEFA will take the necessary measures," the Turkish leader said in a social media post shared on the official Twitter page.
