In his comments to reporters following the Friday prayers, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that he hoped France would get rid of "Macron burden" soon.

Ties between Turkey and France have been particularly tense in recent months over policy differences on Syria issue and the Nagorno-Karabkah conflict between Azeri and Armenian sides, and also the publishing of caricatures of Islamophobic French magazine Charlie Hebdo insulting Prophet Mohammad and Islamic values.

"Macron is a burden on France. Macron and France are going through a very dangerous period actually. My hope is that France gets rid of the Macron trouble as soon as possible," Erdoğan stressed in his comments as speaking to reporters in Istanbul.
