Number of recovered coronavirus patients in Turkey climbs to 73,285

Turkey's number of ICU and ventilator patients drop, and a total of 73,285 people have recovered so far from the novel coronavirus in Turkey, including 5,119 registered on Tuesday, the country's health minister said. The death toll from the pandemic rose to 3,520 as Turkey saw 59 more deaths in the past 24 hours, Fahrettin Koca said on Twitter.

The number of people who have died from COVID-19 in Turkey has risen by 59 in the last 24 hours to 3,520, Health Ministry data showed on Tuesday, as a slowdown in deaths and ICU patients continued.

The overall number of cases rose by 1,832 to 129,491, the data showed. A total of 73,285 people have so far recovered from the coronavirus, which causes the respiratory disease COVID-19.

The number of tests conducted in Turkey in the past 24 hours stood at 33,283, increasing the total number of tests during the outbreak to more than 1.2 million.

COVID-19 cases have been reported in 187 countries and regions since it emerged in China last December, with the US and Europe now the hardest-hit areas.

The pandemic has killed over 252,300 people, with total infections over 3.61 million, while more than 1.17 million people have recovered from the disease, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
