Indian police took two U.S. citizens into custody for flying drone near the presidential palace in the capital New Delhi, local media reported on Monday.

According to local broadcaster NDTV, police arrested a father and his son for flying a drone near Rashtrapati Bhavan, the presidential palace of India.

"Both were taken into custody on Sept. 14," said Delhi police since Indian authorities banned flying of drones in the capital.

The duo was identified as Peter James Lynn, 65, and his son Guillaume Leadbetter Lynn, 30. They reached India as tourists from the U.S. on Saturday.

The police officials said that they recovered a few photographs of the high-security Central Secretariat area from the suspects' video camera, according to the report.

An investigation into the matter is going on, however, the officials said they could find nothing suspicious.

The detained U.S. citizens claimed that they were recording the video for an online porter they work for.
