Turkey on Wednesday expressed concern over the rising number of attacks on mosques belonging to Muslim communities in European countries.
"The fact that Islamophobia and xenophobia has reached an ever more alarming level has become an issue that needs to be resolved immediately," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It stressed that ensuring freedom of worship for citizens is the responsibility of governments.
"Hate and intolerance are a virus threatening the world. To completely remove this virus, the international community must work together," it concluded.
