Eight police killed in Afghanistan after Taliban attack

A Taliban attack on police station Sunday killed eight police and left five others wounded in western Ghor province of Afghanistan, according to local officials.

Speaking to the press, Habibuhlah Radmanish, the deputy governor of Ghor province said eight police were killed and five others wounded during an attack on police station in Band-e Bayan district of Ghor.

Radmanish added that Taliban militants captured the police station for a while and numbers of militants were killed following the attack.

Five wounded police received a treatment at hospital, according to the head doctor of Ghor Hospital.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack from Taliban.

Afghanistan has been rocked by conflict for the last 17 years when U.S. troops entered the South Asian nation to fight the Taliban.
