Erdoğan to pay an official visit to Russia on April 8 to meet Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Erdoğan are "planning to hold a session of the Russian-Turkish High-Level Cooperation Council on April 8," Interfax news agency quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying. The two leaders are expected to take part in the opening ceremony of a joint year of culture in Moscow, state news agency Anadolu had reported in January.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected in Russia on April 8, his third such visit since the beginning of the year, Erdoğan's office said on Saturday.
The presidential office did not elaborate on the nature of the visit, confirmed in an email sent to media.

The two leaders are expected to take part in the opening ceremony of a joint year of culture in Moscow, state news agency Anadolu had reported in January.
Putin and Erdoğan met in January in Moscow to discuss the situation in Syria. The two joined Iranian President Hassan Rouhani for a Syria summit in Russia's Sochi in February.
Russia, along with Iran, is a key ally of Bashar al-Assad. Turkey supports some rebel groups against Damascus.
In September, Ankara and Moscow reached a deal to establish a demilitarized buffer zone in the north-western Idlib enclave.
Idlib is largely controlled by the al-Qaeda-affiliated alliance Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Pro-Assad regime forces and their Russian allies have been continuing strikes on the city despite Turkey's fears of a refugee influx at its border.
