US warns of 'swift response' to any threats against Guaido
The United States is warning the Venezuelan government of Nicolas Maduro not to take action against opposition leader Juan Guaido, who plans to return home on Monday. "Any threats, violence, or intimidation against him will not be tolerated & will be met with swift response. The world is watching - Interim President Guaido must be allowed to re-enter Venezuela safely," Vice President Mike Pence tweeted as Guaido arrived in Caracas.

The United States warned Monday of a "swift response" to any threats or violence against Venezuela's Juan Guaido, as the opposition leader returned home on a renewed push to oust President Nicolas Maduro.
"@jguaido's safe return to Venezuela is of the highest importance to the US," Vice President Mike Pence tweeted as Guaido arrived in Caracas.
"Any threats, violence, or intimidation against him will not be tolerated & will be met with swift response. The world is watching - Interim President Guaido must be allowed to re-enter Venezuela safely."
U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton also tweeted that threats or action against Guaido "will be met with a strong and significant response from the United States and the international community."
The United States and about 50 other countries recognize Guaido as the rightful president of Venezuela. Maduro says he is the target of a U.S.-backed coup plot.
