Merkel says planned exit won't diminish her influence abroad

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Tuesday her planned exit from politics in 2021 would not hurt her influence on the international stage in the run-up to her departure.
"I think that nothing will change on my bargaining position in international negotiations," Merkel said a day after announcing she would step down as the leader of Europe's biggest economy at the end of her mandate.
