A Turkish agency dug 250 wells in various countries across the world -- naming each well after the martyrs of the deadly coup attempt in 2016.
In a statement, Bashir Association said the move will share Turkey's story with the rest of the world.
"In order to tell the story of the July 15 martyrs, the wells will be named after each martyr, in different countries such as Chad, Cameroon, Somalia, Sudan, Nigeria, Tanzania and Afghanistan," the agency said.
Fatih Sarıyar, general manager of the agency, said: "On July 15, 2016 FETO betrayed the country by attempting a coup aimed at destroying our national sovereignty, independence...These humanitarian projects will immortalize the martyrs."
Around 1 million people are expected to gain access to clean water with the initiative.
FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup attempt of July 15, 2016, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
