The Süddeutsche Zeitung's caricaturist Dieter Hanitzsch has been sacked for drawing a caricature of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as "show girl". The German newspaper dismissed Hanitzsch on the pretext of having anti-semitic leanings.
Wolfgang Krach, the editor in chief, has apologized for "show girl" caricature drawn by Hanitzsch which published in his newspaper.
The Caricature drawn by Hanitzsch has also refered to Israeli singer Netta Barzilay which disputatiously won the latest Eurovision Song Contest, and describing Netanyahu in Barzilay's costume while holding a missile in his hand.
"Next year in Jerusalem." Hanitzsch wrote in speech bubble while describing PM Netanyahu as "show girl" in his much-ballyhooed caricature.
Dieter Hanitzsch has faced public lynch by German media and pro-Israeli account on social media after his expostulatory Netanyahu caricature published in the German newspaper.
Following being outed by the Süddeutsche Zeitung for show girl caricature, Dieter Hanitzsch has said that he is not regretful for his work, and stressing he just aimed to criticize Netanyahu via his "show girl" caricature.
"You could reprehend a journalist for his works, but never dismissing him because of that nonsense reason." Caricaturist Hanitzsch told reporters after he learned that he was sacked by his executives for his Netanyahu caricature.
The caricaturist previously drew a cartoon of Turkey's Erdoğan, that was strongly reacted by Turkish public. The German politicians and intellectuals called that insulting cartoon in accordance with freedom of the press. But the same figures have hypocritically acted by lynching Dieter Hanitzsch for his Netanyahu cartoon, and blaming him with being an anti-semitic person.
