Austria: At least 1 dead, 18 injured in gas hub blast

A huge explosion at a major natural gas hub near Austria's border with Slovakia has killed at least one person and left many more injured.

The Austrian Red Cross told local media that at least 18 people were injured in the explosion at the Baumgarten gas hub, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) east of Austria's capital Vienna.

Krone daily reported that as many as 60 people were feared injured in the explosion at Baumgarten, one of Europe's major natural gas hubs, receiving gas imports from Russia and Norway among other countries for distribution, operated by the OMV group.
