Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met Monday with Mandela Mandela, a member of South Africa's parliament and grandson of late iconic leader Nelson Mandela, in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
During the meeting, Abbas hailed South Africa's support for the Palestinian cause, according to the official Wafa news agency.
Mandela, for his part, reiterated his country's support for the Palestinian people and their cause.
"I sensed the Palestinian suffering during my current visit due to the [Israeli] occupation and its repressive policies, which are contrary to international law," he said.
