The Iraqi parliament on Saturday decided to appoint judges to monitor next year's parliamentary election.
MP Ali al-Safi said the assembly voted in favor of a draft law that would allow the Supreme Judiciary Council to monitor the polls.
"The judges will supervise the process of voting and counting with a view to ensuring the integrity of the electoral process," he told Anadolu Agency.
Saturday's session was attended by 180 MPs of the 328-member assembly.
Parliamentary election is scheduled to take place in April.
