German rail operator Deutsche Bahn has cancelled its train services across northern Germany due to a severe storm lashing the country, the company said Thursday.
Services in the northern German states of Lower Saxony, Schleswig Holstein and Bremen, as well as commuter trains in the port city of Hamburg, have been cancelled due to fallen trees on the tracks, it said.
Some service to Berlin has also been shut down.
The fire brigade said the storm, named Xavier, has caused countless trees to be uprooted, roofs to be torn from their buildings and even caused a branch to crash into a person's windshield while they were driving.
