A group of students from Turkey on Wednesday completed renovating a school and an orphanage in Tanzania as part of an exchange program visit.
The 2017 Africa Experience Sharing Program has seen 200 students on Aug. 5-30 visit several African countries, including Tunisia, Libya, Somalia, Kenya, Algeria, Chad, Sudan, Ghana, Niger, and the east African nation of Tanzania.
The program is organized by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in cooperation with Turkish Airlines, Anadolu Agency, and state broadcaster Turkish Radio and Television (TRT).
The students also attended a science activity organized by a TIKA-supported group called Science Travelers in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's largest city.
Through its activities, Science Travelers stresses the importance of scientific research through intelligent games and experiments.
Hikmet Ozdenoglu, TIKA's program coordinator in Dar es Salaam, said that they would continue encouraging scientific activities, which play an important role in the development of Tanzania.
The Turkish students came to Tanzania under the exchange program, together with Science Travelers, and returned to Turkey after finishing their volunteer work.
Under the 2017 Africa Experience Sharing Program, another group of students renovated a primary school building in Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso.
