UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has paid a visit to Ukraine on Sunday and stressed the importance of maintaining territorial integrity of the country.
Speaking after his meeting with Ukraine's Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, Guterres said within the scope of his authority, he will do anything to support Ukraine's territorial integrity and independence.
Guterres also highlighted that the conflict in Donbass was ongoing and called for the gunfire to end.
The Secretary General said UN will need to continue with the humanitarian aid in the country.
Prime Minister Groysman, during the press briefing, said Russia does not respect Ukraine's independence and started a war against the democratic world.
Ukraine has been wracked by conflict since March 2014 following Russia's occupation of Crimea after an internationally unrecognized independence vote.
The UN General Assembly has proclaimed Russia's annexation of Ukraine illegal, and Turkey, the United States, the European Union among other countries do not recognize Crimea as Russian territory.
