Turkey to restore Sevakin Island

This is how President Erdoğan reacted to the heartbreaking condition of Sudan's Sevakin Island, which is currently in ruins.

A port city by the Red Sea in northeast Sudan, Sevakin became a property of the Turkish Republic through Egypt's conquest by Yavuz Sultan Selim in 1517.

It became a place of residence for Ethiopian governors until the 19th century.
