Three HDP-member mayors suspended for supporting PKK terror group

The Turkish interior ministry on Monday suspended three mayors in eastern and southeastern Turkey for supporting terrorism.

According to an official statement by the ministry, the mayors of Diyarbakır, Mardin and Van provinces -- Adnan Selçuk Mızraklı, Ahmet Türk and Bedia Özgökçe Ertan -- were suspended for crimes such as establishing or spreading propaganda for a terror group or else just being a member.

Members of the HDP have been criticized for attending the funerals of PKK terrorists in the past. Despite the HDP's claims that they do not support the terrorist organization, the party's members and mayors have attended the funerals of PKK terrorists many times before.

In the most controversial example, HDP deputy Tuba Hezer attended the funeral of the suicide bomber who perpetrated the Ankara car bombing in 2015 that killed 28 people, most of them civilians, and wounded 61.
