Seven years have passed since a Syrian uprising that began as a peaceful demonstration developed into a full-fledged civil war. It now seems that the dictatorial regime of Bashar al-Assad is on the verge of victory against the opposition which was deserted by the western powers that initially promised to assist it, but then abandoned it to face the brutal Assad forces with unrestrained support from Russia and Iran.
