Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, regions once known for incidents are now coming to the forefront with oil resources.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar recently made some statements regarding shale oil. Engineers drilled down to approximately 4000 meters deep. This work was done using unconventional methods, and currently, oil has been extracted. According to experts, the quality of this oil is quite high.
Officials stated that the quality of the shale oil is equivalent to that extracted in Middle Eastern countries. While TPAO (Turkish Petroleum Corporation) works day and night in the region where a peaceful and secure environment has been established, the oil extracted from between the rocks was seen for the first time.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced that drilling operations for shale oil have started in Diyarbakır with an American company. Bayraktar stated that the total reserve, which will reach 540 billion dollars, will potentially multiply Gabar in Şırnak by 2 or 3, and that shale oil will contribute 8 billion dollars to the economy every year.
Within the framework of these studies, while work continues in the drilling well opened last year in the rural area of Muradiye district of Van, it is stated that an oil discovery from the region is imminent.
