Three PKK terrorists surrendered to Turkish security forces, according to the country's Interior Ministry.

In a statement on Monday, the ministry said that terrorists, who escaped shelters being used by PKK in northern Iraq, surrendered to the security forces in Turkey's southeastern Sirnak province.

It also noted that some 247 terrorists have surrendered to security forces in 2019 as a result of decisive operations against the terror group within the country and abroad.

PKK terrorists often use northern Iraq as a base to plan cross-border terrorist attacks on Turkey.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
