Turkish, Beninese presidents meet in Ankara

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Beninese counterpart Patrice Talon on Thursday met in the Turkish capital Ankara.

Erdoğan welcomed Talon with an official ceremony at the Presidential Complex.

The leaders then held a closed-door meeting.

Erdoğan and Talon will also co-chair a meeting between delegations, which will discuss all aspects of the bilateral relations between the two countries, according to the Turkish presidency.

The presidents are also expected to exchange views on current regional and international issues.

The meeting will be followed by a joint news conference.

The bilateral trade volume between Turkey and Benin was over $115.3 million in 2017.

According to Turkish Foreign Ministry, primary goods exported from Turkey are iron and steel products, mineral oils, food products. The great part of Turkey's import from Benin is cottonseed.
