Medicine congress to be held in Turkey for 1st time

The International Traditional and Complementary Medicine congress will be held for the first time under the auspices of the Turkish Presidency in April in İstanbul.

"Anatolia's plant diversity is several times higher than Europe's. Humanity has benefited from plants for treatment throughout history. By organizing this congress, we are doing a big and important job. It is a geographical area with a lot of plant diversity and the place where the first hospitals were established in the world in terms of history," Turkish Health Minister Ahmet Demircan told Anadolu Agency.

Expert scientists from China to Africa will gather from April 19 to 22, 2018 at İstanbul Congress Center in cooperation with the Turkish Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization and the University of Health Sciences, according to the website.

"It is intended to hold a highly-attended congress with a robust scientific infrastructure in order to exchange new developments from all around the world in traditional and complementary medicine practices," it said.

As part of the four-day scientific program, the congress will focus on "presentations, poster submissions, case studies and workshops of scientists and professionals with inputs for traditional and complementary medicine practices."

Some 115 foreign guests and 178 scientists from 30 different countries will participate in the congress.
