Arrest warrants issued for 14 FETO-linked suspects in Turkey

Turkish prosecutors on Wednesday issued arrest warrants for 14 suspected members of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization over fraud in an official examination.

In a statement, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in the capital Ankara said the warrants were issued for police personnel and teachers after they were found to have obtained the questions of promotional exam for police beforehand and distributed among FETO members in 2011.

Out of the 14 suspects, financial crimes police have arrested three suspects so far, while eight of the suspects were already in prison over several charges, according to the statement.

The search for the remaining suspects is in progress.

In the northern Tokat province, another 6 FETO-linked terror suspects were arrested as part of an investigation into "judges and prosecutors house" of the terror group.

The arrest of four former judges and prosecutors, and 2 candidate judges came after the provincial public prosecutor's office issued warrants for the arrest of the suspects.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup on July 15, 2016, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
