Turkish forces killed three PKK terrorists on Thursday during an airstrike in southeastern Hakkari province, according to the local governor.

The terrorists were detected by unmanned aerial vehicles in Kavaklı and Çoban Dağı areas, a statement released by the Hakkari Governor's Office said.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.

Since then, more than 1,200 victims, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives.
