Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane is the first player in Bundesliga history to score 18 goals in the first 12 matches of a season, according to sports analytics company Opta.

That means the England captain surpassed the record set by Bayern legend Gerd Müller, who in the 1968-69 season scored 17 goals in 12 games.

With his winner in Bayern's 1-0 against Cologne on Friday evening, Kane also became the first English player to score 18 goals in one Bundesliga season.

Former Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho previously held the record, with 17 goals in 2019-20.
