Turkish footballer Ahmet Çalık dies in car accident in Ankara
Turkish Super League player Ahmet Yılmaz Çalık passed away after his car rolled over in the capital of Ankara while driving eastbound towards the city of Niğde. "We are in deep sorrow to have lost our player Ahmet Çalık who earned our fans' and city's love since the first day he arrived," Konyaspor said in a statement on Tuesday.

Turkish Super League player Ahmet Yılmaz Çalık has died in a car accident, his club Konyaspor said on Tuesday. He was 27.
"We are in deep sorrow to have lost our player Ahmet Çalık who earned our fans' and city's love since the first day he arrived at Konyaspor," the club wrote on Twitter.
The defender died after his car rolled over in the capital of Ankara while driving eastbound towards the city of Niğde, state news agency Anadolu reported.
Images on local media showed the heavily damaged car on the side of the road.
Çalık moved from Galatasaray to Konyaspor in 2020. He also played in the national team, the last game in 2017 against Moldova.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF), Galatasaray and other top division clubs along with Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Kasapoğlu expressed their condolences.
EUROPEAN CLUBS VOICE CONDOLENCES
Major European clubs also paid tribute to Calik.
"Paris Saint-Germain extend their condolences to the family and loved ones of Ahmet Calik and to @konyaspor. The Club sends their best wishes of support and solidarity," tweeted French team Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Also on Twitter, German club Schalke 04 sent their condolences to Calik's family, friends, and Konyaspor.
In addition, Spanish giants Barcelona said they hoped the player would "rest in peace."
