Fenerbahçe 2 points away from hitting bottom of league

19-time league champion Turkish football giant Fenerbahçe sit two points away from the bottom of the Turkish Super Lig.

In Week 18 of Turkey's Spor Toto Super Lig, Fenerbahçe drew Bursaspor 1-1 in an away match on Monday in their first league match since the winter break and moved out of the relegation zone of the Turkish Super football league with goal difference.

Showing the worst league performance in their history, Fenerbahçe's cold streak continued on Monday with a 1-1 draw.

The "Yellow Canaries" were desperate for a win to stay close to league's top.

Fenerbahçe with 17 points are currently at 15th place in the league -- 21 points away from the top of the league and 2 points away from the bottom of the league.

Akhisar with 17 points, Erzurumspor with 16 points and Çaykur Rizespor with 15 points are in the relegation zone.

Medipol Başakşehir strengthened their position to lead the Turkish football league with 38 points after beating rival Trabzonspor in their first match in the second half of the season.

Turkey's top tier football league has been experiencing something new this year as trio Galatasaray, Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe are far from leadership.

The leader Başakşehir beat the runner-up Trabzonspor 4-2 in an away match on Sunday to have a clean start to the second half of the season.

In the first match of the second half of Turkish football league, Beşiktaş defeated Akhisar 3-1 on Friday, while Galatasaray beat Ankaragücü 6-0 on Saturday.

Istanbul's Medipol Basaksehir led the league with 38 points, the reigning champions Galatasaray and Yeni Malatyaspor have 32 points each, followed by Kasimpasa, Trabzonspor and Besiktas with 29 points each.
