Cristiano Ronaldo has won a poll for goal of the season in the previous campaign for a sensational overhead kick against new employers Juventus in the Champions League.
Ronaldo, then with Real Madrid, topped a poll on UEFA.com by claiming nearly 200,000 of 346,915 votes cast by fans, the European governing body said Tuesday.
The goal was "an extraordinary display of technique and athleticism," UEFA technical observers were quoted as saying. Real Madrid went on to lift the trophy after beating Juventus in the quarter-finals.
Ronaldo dominated the poll with the second-place strike, Dimitri Payet for Marseille against RB Leipzig in the Europa League, gaining 35,558 votes.
Eva Navarro netting for Spain against Germany in the final of the European women's under-17 championship was third with 23,315 votes.
The award for goals scored in UEFA competitions is in its fourth year having previously been won by Mario Mandzukic of Juventus in 2017 and Barcelona's Lionel Messi in 2015 and 2016.
