Two drones struck a US diplomatic support facility at Baghdad International Airport on Thursday evening, marking the second such attack in two days, Iraqi media reported.

Shafaq News, citing an unnamed security source, said the two drones fell inside the site without interception.

There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.

Iraqi and US authorities have yet to comment on the strike.

The same facility came under a drone attack on Wednesday without causing any casualties.

The US diplomatic support center at Baghdad airport serves as a logistical and administrative hub for American diplomats and personnel in Iraq, including administrative offices, residential facilities, storage areas, and secured zones, and is used to facilitate diplomatic missions and support operations for the US Embassy in Baghdad.

Regional tensions have escalated since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people to date, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
