Iran harbors ‘no enmity’ toward American people, says Iranian president

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Wednesday in a letter addressed to the American people that Iran harbors no enmity toward ordinary Americans.

"The Iranian people harbor no enmity toward other nations, including the people of America, Europe, or neighboring countries," he said in the letter cited by the state-run Press TV.

Pezeshkian invited Americans to look beyond political rhetoric and reconsider what he described as the "realities of Iran's past, present, and aspirations" for a future based on "truth, dignity, and mutual understanding."

Amid "competing narratives and deep geopolitical tensions," relations between Iran and the United States remain among the "most misunderstood," he said.

Pezeshkian stressed that Iran has not pursued "aggression, expansion, colonialism, or domination," and has never chosen to initiate war.

The US and Israel have maintained an air offensive on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
