Safranbolu is a town of Karabük in the Black Sea region of Turkey. Safranbolu is a typical Ottoman city that has survived to the present day. It also displays an interesting interaction between the topography and the historic settlement.

The Safranbolu houses represent the city culture in an original way. There are 2000 traditional Safranbolu houses, which are the best examples of the traditional Turkish housing architecture.
The houses with modest floor plans, customs and traditions, are a unique spatial account of Turkish lifestyle and culture based on respect for the nature and neighbours.
Unesco World Heritage
Safranbolu is known for its uniquely preserved traditional Ottoman Turkish architecture, included to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1994 on cultural criteria.
