The Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail race kicked off on Saturday in Turkey's scenic Cappadocia region.
More than 2,000 runners from over 75 countries are participating in the race which will run from October 20-21.
Participants run on three different tracks: ultra (119 kilometers), medium (63 km), and short trail (38 km).
The race takes place along the unique fairy chimneys and valleys of the Cappadocia region, a UNESCO world heritage site.
Aydın Ayhan Güney, the event organizer, said that the number of runners rose by 25 percent this year compared to a year earlier.
The race will give more points to runners in this year as it reached the Pro-Level category of Ultra-Trail World Tour in its fifth iteration, Güney said.
