The fire had not yet reached the firebreak - a protective strip of land designed to limit the spread of a wirldfire - Christiane Lindner-Klopsch, head of the municipal public order office, said on Tuesday morning. It is expected that the fire will reach this area in the course of the day.
On Monday, fresh winds fanned the forest fire in the state of Brandenburg, more than doubling the affected area to 326 hectares.
It is not possible to say exactly how large the affected area is at the moment, but it has remained largely unchanged since Monday, Lindner-Klopsch said.
"The situation is still tense, but controlled," she said.
The former military training ground near Jüterbog is contaminated with unexploded ordnance. On Sunday and Monday, there were several detonations of ammunition on the affected area.
Towns and villages nearby have so far not been affected by the fire.
