Palestinian Muslims flock to al-Aqsa to celebrate Mawlid al-Nabi
Palestinian Muslims celebrated the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, known as Mawlid al-Nabi, at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem.

The event took place on the 12th day of the month of Rabi' al-Awwal according to the lunar calendar.
Palestinian families and children participated in the festivities organized by the Islamic Foundations Department in Jerusalem.
During the celebrations, Palestinians prayed, worshipped, sang hymns, and distributed treats like dates and sweets in the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Despite Israeli forces' presence around the Old City of East Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Palestinians persevered and celebrated the occasion.
The Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, commended the Palestinians for their determination to reach the Al-Aqsa Mosque despite Israeli checkpoints and restrictions.
Hussein pointed a finger at the significance of the event in light of the challenges they faced.
Sheikh Omar al-Kiswani, Director of the Al-Aqsa Mosque Foundation, highlighted how Palestinians overcame obstacles to celebrate Mawlid al-Nabi in this sacred place.
In the Gaza Strip, schools organized programs to mark Mawlid al-Nabi, including Quran recitation, hymns, and various activities.
Children received gifts, and in some areas, water, fruit juice, and sweets were distributed as part of the celebrations.
