Nature lovers gather at Sat Glacier Lakes to participate in festival
The Sat Glacier Lakes in the Ikiyaka Mountains have been declared a "National Park" by presidential decision. The park provides a peaceful environment for cultural, artistic, and sports activities.

Nature lovers recently gathered at the Sat Glacier Lakes, located at an altitude of 3,400 meters, to participate in the fifth edition of the festival, which carried the slogan "There is life in Hakkari" and was organized under the auspices of the Governorship of Hakkari.
The festival offered a range of activities, including rafting, canoeing, bicycle races, trekking, paragliding, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and flyboarding, allowing participants to connect with nature in the unique landscape of the region.
Governor and Deputy Mayor İdris Akbıyık stated that around 15,000 people from across Turkey attended the festival, and the number of participants has been increasing each year.
He emphasized that they plan to organize more professional, beautiful, and larger festivals in the future, making Hakkari a center of attraction and culture.
The governor expressed his happiness over the progress in infrastructure, education, and health in Hakkari, thanks to the support of the government.
He highlighted the recent arrival of natural gas, construction of TOKİ houses, and the establishment of nearly 50 schools.
A snow festival was also organized in the city, attracting thousands of people, proving that life in Hakkari is thriving with art, entertainment, and festivity.
The governor emphasized that terrorism is not prevailing in the mountains of Hakkari, as festivals are held, and movies and concerts take place.
Valuable artists participated in the festival, and the event included concerts, competitions, climbing, and shows.
Governor Akbıyık thanked the municipality, governorship personnel, district governorship, and related institutions for their contributions to the successful festival.
The festival was filled with joy, and attendees enjoyed singing, dancing halay, and unfurling the Turkish flag on the dominant hill. The atmosphere was vibrant and full of celebration, highlighting the beauty and spirit of Hakkari.
