At-risk world heritage list grows: proposal to include Venice
Venice, one of Italy's important tourist cities, is facing the risk of submergence. The historical city is gradually sinking as it struggles with pollution caused by tourists for a long time.

UNESCO initiated efforts for the city on the cultural heritage list. They recommended the city's inclusion in the "Endangered World Heritage List."
This year, among the other places recommended for inclusion in the Endangered World Heritage List are Ukraine's cities of Kiev and Lviv.

Ukraine's port city of Odessa, along with the archaeological sites in Yemen and Lebanon, are also among the recent additions to the Endangered World Heritage List.

The Great Barrier Reef, known as the world's largest coral reef system located in Australia, is waiting to be considered for inclusion in the endangered list. Despite warnings of its endangerment due to global warming, no decision has been announced yet.
