Now, at 22 years old, she continues to be admired by people across the globe for her courageous stand against the soldier who had shot her cousin.
After an Israeli soldier shot her cousin in the head, Tamimi recounted, "They informed us that my cousin had been killed, but he was actually injured in the head. I confronted the soldier who had shot my cousin, and as a result, I was detained and subjected to mistreatment because of my actions."
Stating that her cousin was imprisoned, Tamimi explained, "I confronted the soldier who had shot my cousin while he was in prison. They arrested me for this act, and I ended up serving an 8-month prison sentence."
Tamimi revealed that Israeli soldiers subjected her to torture and added, "During that time, I was prevented from having any contact with my family and friends, or even talking to them."
Tamimi, who calls for an end to the Gaza Strip's humanitarian crisis, stands as one of the most prominent figures in the protests in the West Bank.
