Floodwaters turn Lake Van brown in Bitlis district

After rain and flooding in the Ahlat district of Bitlis, waters flowing from riverbeds turned Lake Van brown. Following a weather warning, mixed rain and snow affected the region, and after the rainfall, floodwaters flowed into Lake Van from the riverbeds.

The floodwaters from the 7-kilometer stretch on the Ahlat-Tatvan road in the district caused the lake to turn brown, and the resulting scene was captured from the air.

Meanwhile, drivers and residents traveling on the Ahlat-Tatvan road stopped by the shores of Lake Van, which had turned brown due to the floodwaters, to watch the unusual sight.

Local resident Yunus Nazlı stated that it was the first time he had witnessed such a scene, with the lake appearing in different shades of red and blue.

Nazlı said, "Lake Van has turned red with the rainwater. We've never seen such a scene before. We stopped and filmed it."
